For businesses, reformatting a computer's hard drive is often a necessary evil; viruses and spyware, for example, can devastate the operating system and the only option left is to start over fresh. You can reformat a Lenovo either using the hidden partition on the hard drive or from a recovery disc.
From Rescue and Recovery, the name of the software on the disc and the partition, you can back up your company's data and then restore the operating system to its original state, wiping the hard disk in the process. Tips. If you're attempting to recover the Lenovo from a recovery disc, rather than from the partition, press 'F1' on the boot screen.
Select 'Boot' and then press 'Enter.' Highlight the disc drive and press 'F5' to move it to the top of the list. Press 'F10' to save and exit. If you're running Rescue and Recovery from DVD, insert the appropriate recovery media into the disc drive when prompted. If you want to back up your data before reformatting the drive, select 'Rescue Files' when prompted and follow the on-screen directions.
